Each year Inala Wangarra delivers its annual Welcome Babies to Country program in partnership with Mission Australia and supported by Inala Men’s Group, Inala Youth Services and Inala Indigenous Health Service at Ngutana-Lui, which is the local cultural centre based in Inala. The program provides mums and bubs with a series of workshops prior to a beautiful and spiritual celebratory ceremony. The workshops include First Aid for toddlers and babies, cooking nutritional food for your babies and baby gym. The ceremonywishes to welcome new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander babies (newborn-24 months) to the community involving traditional values, practices and spirituality that their families can share with the wider Inala Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The ceremony includes a Welcome to Country by Traditional Owner Uncle Bill Bonner, traditional dancers from the Inala community, Inala Elders blessing of the babies and a smoking ceremony.
